Three things I love to review on the blog. Hair tools, concealers and foundations. I am particularly critical of all three, as I find I have drawers and drawers of foundations in particular, that have just been so hit and miss that I like to make sure people have a detailed review to see if this is something that is going to suit them.
The latest foundation under the microscope is the Isadora active all day wear foundation. I initially trialed this as part of a potential collaboration for Instagram but I honestly thought it deserved it’s own blog post, as it was a product that took me throughly by surprise. After trialing the product for a while before agreeing to do the Instagram collaboration, I emailed the PR to say how shocked I was that it was so good. Honestly, I have spent a fortune on the likes of Huda and Nars and haven’t had much success with them, that I was genuinely surprised at how the Isadora Active foundation was streets ahead for a fraction of the price.
Shade Range: The shade range isn’t fantastic but I think they have a few that will suit different Irish skin tones. There are six shades in total. Fair, Light Honey, sand, Warm Beige, Cognac and Almond. I am wearing shade sand which would be around a Mac nc25. As I am quite pale at the minute, I find I have to bronze my neck up a tiny bit but nothing major. As of now we can’t get the darker shades in the range.
Packaging: The foundation comes in a 35ml tube with a pump. This is the type of packaging I love from a foundation as when you come to the end you can cut the end off and scrape the last few bits out!
Texture: I actually found the texture of this lovely. It applied to my skin like silk. Felt lovely and light weight on the skin and for a long wear foundation it didn’t feel in the least bit drying. It also didn’t dry out on the skin throughout the day. I love mixing it with my Urban Decay drop Shot too.
Finish: The finish on this is incredible. It makes your skin look so smooth and almost like velvet! I actually couldn’t stop looking at my skin the first time I wore it! It doesn’t settle in pore or crease and it just leaves the skin looking beautiful.
Coverage: Isadora say this is a medium coverage. Personally I think it is a good strong medium coverage. You can sheer it out or you can wear it much fuller. I find that it covers any spots etc well. You can see from the pictures how well it covered my pigmentation.
Lasting Power: The lasting power of this foundation is excellent. I got a good days work out of it and a few hours milling around the shops and it still looked well. What I like is even though it lasts really well, it doesn’t change in the finish on your skin. It stays the same which isn’t always the case with long wearing foundations.
Skin Type: I always struggling with picking a skin type but I would say this would suit people who have normal to slightly oily skin. I found it stayed on well around my t zone which is a little oily at the moment.
Price: This is a mid range price at €19.95. I have seen it on offer on some websites. You can buy it from Ch Tralee here.
Overall I am really quite taken with this foundation. I’ve reached for this quite a bit over the past few weeks/months. I like how it wears as the day progresses and it is a relief to not constantly have to be checking to see if my face has gone patchy throughout the day. If you can get a good colour match it would be worth trying out . I will 100% be repurchasing a tube when this one is finished.
